On April 10, 2024, we were delighted to welcome local chambers and member businesses from across the state to Springfield for our annual Chamber Day event.
Chamber Day is a joint initiative by the Illinois Chamber and Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (IACCE) that brings together businesses of all sizes with a strong representation of small businesses. The event provides an opportunity for businesses to meet with legislators and share their priorities. Moreover, it is a great chance for our members to hear from the legislative leaders of each of the four caucuses.
We were honored to have House Speaker Welch, Senate President Harmon, House Republican Leader McCombie, and Senate Republican Leader Curran back with us this year. During the event, the legislative leaders discussed several important topics, including BIPA, sports stadium financing, and minimum wage.
In the morning segment, Tyler Clark from Microsoft discussed workforce development and artificial intelligence. Kevin Courtois from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce provided a federal update, and Peter Steinmeyer gave a presentation titled “Death by ‘820’ Cuts.” The program concluded with final remarks from Illinois Chamber President and CEO Lou Sandoval before Chamber council directors addressed critical issues.
