The moment COVID arrived at the front door in IL, much like everyone, we were surprised; however, we knew that not only were we going to be heavily involved on the legal front but, more importantly, wanted to set the example on ways other law firms may become involved and become part of the solution. As I have always maintained, while we are attorneys by profession, we are human beings first. As such, our primary responsibility is to each other. In that regard, we quickly mobilized our efforts in several ways. Such as providing 750 meals a month to areas that were experiencing food shortages due to the pandemic, supporting a local organization by way of donations which allowed the organization to create and distribute face masks to the people who actually need it the most like the healthcare industries, first responders, etc. Finally, we held weekly webinars called, “Tele-Briefs Tuesday’s with ASA” wherein we discussed the current COVID news in Illinois, updates at the Commission, potential impact of COVID on IL workers compensation and employment, Legislation updates and inspiration for the week. We at ASA are more than just legal, we truly strive to be partners with our clients and our local communities.
