MyTax Illinois: Coming September 24!
Beginning September 24, 2012, the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) will have an entirely new way for taxpayers to file and pay their taxes. MyTax Illinois provides a centralized location on the IDOR website for taxpayers to file returns, make payments, and manage their tax accounts. Access will be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere you have an Internet connection. Taxpayers will have a single logon to access all of their tax accounts.
Some of the features that will be available in MyTax Illinois include registering a new business, assigning user access rights to the tax account, viewing registration information, filing most returns and paying electronically, amending returns electronically, viewing filing and payment frequency schedules, viewing and scheduling payments, and viewing correspondence and return information.
The first phase – available September 24 – includes new business registration; sales, use and other related taxes, including sales tax returns that were previously unavailable for electronic filing; electronic filing of some amended returns; and IFTA decal orders and return filing. Future phases will include filing, payment, and account management options for excise taxes, business income tax, and withholding income tax, and account management for individual income tax.
Setting up your MyTax Illinois account is easy! With just a few simple steps, you will have access to all your tax accounts with a single logon. More information about setting up and using your MyTax Illinois account can be found in Informational Bulletin FY 2013-02, available at on IDOR’s website at tax.illinois.gov.
