General Assembly at Half Way Point

The General Assembly adjourned for a two week break on March 30th after reaching its deadline for bills to pass the chamber of introduction. Many measures even though not approved by the deadline will see their deadline extended. Illinois lawmakers have a number of key issues that they will need to resolve before they adjourn at the end of May. First, the budget and the significant components that are driving state spending…Medicaid and pension funding.

One long-term solution, state policymakers seem to be missing is the willingness to aggressively address Illinois’ dismal business climate and drive tax revenues by expanding the private economy.
